The basics
What is OurBeam?
OurBeam is a watch party app for Windows. You open a room, invite your friends and watch together with playback in sync, while you talk over camera and mic.
How many people can join a room?
Each room holds up to 8 people, including the person who opened it.
Do my friends need the app too?
Yes. Everyone in a room joins from the OurBeam app on their own Windows PC.
Do I need an account?
You sign up with an email address, a username and a password. It takes about a minute, and your account keeps your name the same across rooms.
Devices and downloads
Which devices does OurBeam work on?
OurBeam is available for Windows only. There is no Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, Android or browser version right now.
How do I install OurBeam?
Use the Download for Windows button on the home page, open the installer and follow the steps on screen. Then sign in and open your first room.
Will OurBeam come to Mac or mobile?
Nothing is announced at the moment. We will share any news about other platforms here first.
Watching together
How does the sync work?
When someone in the room presses play, pauses or skips, the same thing happens for everyone, so the whole room stays on the same moment.
Can I use my camera and microphone?
Yes. OurBeam supports both, and you can turn each one on or off at any time during a watch party. You can also join with both switched off and just watch.
How do I invite friends?
Open a room and share its invite link. Friends who have the app can use the link to take a seat until the room reaches 8 people.
What happens when a room is full?
A room stops accepting people at 8. If a ninth friend wants in, someone has to leave first, or you can start a second room.
Account and privacy
How do I reset my password?
Choose “Forgot password?” on the log in page, or email [email protected] if you can’t get into your account.
Who can see me on camera?
Only the people in the room with you, and only while your camera is on. Read the Privacy Policy for details on how your data is handled.
